Koopa Species

B.W.M.

This Mariology is about the koopas, a very strange species of turtle, who mostly make their living as solidiers for Bowser's army, a.k.a. the Koopa Troop. This is supposed to list all of the known groups, where they fit in the the Koopa Kingdom, and all their known species and relatives. This will also point out some things people don't know.

Note: Mechakoopas don't count because they're machines.

Total Species: 40
Total Groups: 9

Group 1: Crawlers

Status in Koopa Troop: Underlings

These were probably the first koopas that existed, since they are lower than all the other types of koopas. Most of these are stupid enough that they will crawl off a cliff, and can only walk on four legs.

1. Buzzy Beatle- Despite their name, these aren't insects. They are called buzzy beatles because of their shell. These koopas once roamed all over the land, but right now they like to live in dark places.

Appearence: They look like a turtle with a black shell over its body. One of them, Chan, has a dark green shell.

Size: All are about the size of shellcreeper.

Abilities: Can walk on walls and ceilings, and, because of a thick shell, is immune to fire attacks.

Attacks: Biting and a spinning shell attack, both from the ground and the ceiling.

Weaknesses: Can be flipped over, revealing its soft underside. It can also be killed by an ice block.

Unknown factors: Nobody knows how they, even with claws, walk up walls and ceilings because of their weight.

2. Para-beatle- Last seen in Sky Land, this close relative of buzzy beatles have wings so they can fly.

Appearence: These look like winged buzzy beatles with red shells.
Size: They're slightly smaller than buzzy beatles.
Abilities: Can fly, is immune to fire, and can carry things on their back, even a heavy Italian after transforming into a statue.
Attacks: Biting.
Weaknesses: Can be killed by a swipe from a raccoon's tail, and hammers.
Unknown factors: Nobody has ever seen them walk, so I don't know if they can walk or not.

3. Buster Beatle- Another close relative of buzzy beatle. Likes to live underground in Sky Land and Ice Land.

Appearence: Looks like a buzzy beatle, except that it has a dark blue shell.
Size: They're about the size of a buzzy beatle.
Abilities: Can lift ice blocks and walk on two legs.
Attacks: Throwing ice blocks and biting.
Weaknesses: Can be killed by being stomped on, hit with a raccoon tail, hammers, ice blocks, and fireballs.
Unknown factors: Nobody knows if can lift heavier objects than ice blocks.

4. Spiny/spikey- The first koopas to ever appear on Earth from a warp pipe to the Mushroom World. These spike-studded koopas come in many sizes and varieties. Eggs, which are covered in spines, are often thrown by lakitus. Babies are called spinies, while adults are called spikies.

Appearence: Looks like a red-shelled turtle covered in white or yellow spikes. Eggs are red and covered in spikes.
Size: Babies are about the size of a buzzy beatle, while adults are about three times bigger.
Abilities: Like buzzy beatles, they can walk up ceilings. Eggs instantly hatch after being thrown.
Attacks: Biting, spinning shell attack, both on ground and ceiling, and a rolling ball attack
Weaknesses: Fireballs, tail swipes, cape swipes, and ice blocks.
Unknown factors: Nobody knows if these are creations of lakitus or not.

5. Spikester- These are really close relatives of spikies. The only difference would be that their shells are green, and their eggs are green. Also, their eggs don't hatch when thrown by a lakitu. They instead chase the enemy around by rolling towards them. They also like to live near Moleville.

Appearence: Looks like a green spikey. Eggs also look like green spiny eggs.
Size: About as big as a spikey.
Abilities: Eggs don't hatch when thrown. Other than that, they have the same abilities of a spikey.
Attacks: Has the same attacks as a spikey, except that the eggs roll also.
Weaknesses: Same weaknesses as a spikey.
Unknown factors: Nobody knows how the eggs sense the enemy when thrown.

6. Spike Top- A very close relative of spikies, spikesters, and buzzy beatles. These creatures seem to be the evolved version of buzzy beatles. They once roamed all over the caves of Dinosaur Land. Now they're located in dark places, such as Mt. Lava Lava on Lava Lava Island, and Toad Town Sewers..

Appearence: Looks like a turtle with a red shell with a spike on top.
Size: About the size of a spiny.
Abilities: Can walk up walls and ceilings. Also immune to fire.
Attacks: Biting.
Weaknesses: Can be flipped over by a shock wave or a stomp from somebody wearing a badge that renders them immune to spikes. They can killed by a cape swipe, ice blocks, and for some unknown reason, they will crawl directly into lava, killing them instantly.
Unknown factors: Nobody knows why they like to hang out near lava.

7. Bony Beatle- The reanimated remains of a buzzy beatle or a spiny, that's usually found in Darkland. 'Nuff said.

Appearence: (Spikes in) Looks like a mummified buzzy beatle with shoes on.
(Spikes out) Same as above, except with yellow spikes sticking out of shell.
Size: As big as a buzzy beatle.
Abilities: Can retract yellow spikes in and out of shell and can fall apart and pull itself together again. Also retracts spikes in or out when hit
Attacks: Spinning shell attack and an attack in which it jumps in a half-flip with its spikes out.
Weaknesses: Can be killed from a cape swipe and can be flipped over by a jump.
Unknown factors: Why doesn't fire automatically kill them like it does to a dry bones?

8. Goom spikey- This is a very unusual variety of spikey. The only person who ever saw them would be Wario, during his quest for the treasure of the Golden Pyramid. It can only be located in jungles, toy boards, and haunted towns.

Appearence: Looks like a cross-hybrid between a goom and a spikey. It also wears red shoes. Its shell has only a line of spikes that goes from the top of the shell to both the left side and the right side.
Size: About the size of a regular spikey.
Abilities: Can walk on two legs and can hide both arms under shell.
Attacks: Biting
Weaknesses: Can be flipped over by a shock wave caused by a heavy object slamming down on the ground. Can also be killed by a heavy object that's sliding away.
Unknown factors: Nobody really knows if this is a cross-hybrid between a spikey and a goom.

9. Black Goom Spikey- A very close relative of the goom spikey. Unlike its red-shelled counterpart, it's more rare and its heavier. It can only be found in the highest part of a jungle, the lowest part in a toy board, and in a treasure room, with a yeti in it, located in the highest floor of a haunted hotel.

Appearence: A black-shelled goom spikey
Size: Exactly the size of a goom spikey
Abilities: Has all the abilities of a goom spikey, but can withstand the shock wave that flips over a regular goom spikey.
Attacks: Biting.
Weaknesses: Can be flipped over by a shock wave caused by an extremly heavy object slamming down on the ground. It can also be killed by a heavy object that's sliding away.
Unknown factors: See 'Goom Spikey'

Group 3: Rocky Wrench

Status in Koopa Troop: Workers/troops/air force men

Since this group really doesn't belong to any other group, these mole-like koopas belong in their own group, even if there is just one species.

1. Rocky Wrench- Last seen in Dark Land, these mole-like koopas often like to hide in tanks and airships, waiting to throw wrenches at unexpecting intruders. These are now possibly extinct.

Ones that have flashing capes will produce a magic feather and turn into regular koopas if stomped on. The ones that wear red shoes instead of blue shoes are the masters of flight, as they tend to dive toward their enemies from the sky above.

Appearence: A shell-less koopa troopa with either blue shoes and a yellow cape, blue shoes and a flashing cape, or red shoes and a yellow cape.
Size: Exactly that of a regular koopa troopa.
Abilities: Flying.
Attacks: Biting, a flying attack, and a dive attack.

There are some breeds that know only certain kinds of magic and are determined by color, but blue ones know all kinds of magic. Two of them, Kamek and Kammy, are far more advanced in magic than other magikoopas. Another one, Tutankoopa, only knows desert magic, a form of magic that's completly foreign to regular magikoopas, doesn't have a wand, lacks glasses and fangs, and doesn't wear wizard's clothing, but desert clothing with a chomp hat.

Unknown factors: How does Tutankoopa know about desert magic?

9. Dry bones- The reanimated remains of a koopa troopa, usually seen near magikoopas. Since their shells are white, they possess no special powers. If their stomped on or defeated in battle, they fall apart, but then pull themselves back together after a while. They used to be immune to fire. Now they turn to cinders if they come into contact with fire.

Group 6: Hammer Bros.

Status in Koopa Troop: Special Forces/bodyguards/ Treasure ship keepers/ generals/sports figures

These koopas are very special. First seen during Mario's first quest against Bowser, these koopas can throw an almost impentrable wall of hammers, making them a force to reckon with. Variations, such as the fire brother and the chargin chuck, appeared during Mario's quest to save the Mushroom World and during Mario's quest to save Dinosaur Land. Almost every species, except for the sledge brother, sumo brother, chargin chuck, splitting chargin chuck, and the amazing flying hammer brother, come in pairs. All hammer brothers, excluding sumo brothers, can be killed by a stomp on the head.

1. Hammer Brother- The original species. These koopas often are found between two brick columns. They orignally used metal claw hammers, or just regular hammers, but now they use wooden mallets that can shrink an oppenent on contact. One of them, Dr. Topper, is green instead of tan.

Weaknesses: Exactly that of a hammerbrother and a boom boom.
Unknown factors: It's unknown whether these exist anymore or not.

8. Splitting Chargin Chuck- The last of the strange four hammer brother variations found on Dinosaur Land. This is a rare variation of the chargin chuck who, at the sight of an enemy, squats down, and, after a few seconds, split into three more.

Appearence: See 'chargin chuck'.
Size: Is wider than a hammer brother but has the same height.
Abilities: Can split into three chargin chucks.
Attacks: Charging and punching.
Weaknesses: Other than the weakness of a reguler chargin chuck, its open for an attack while its splitting, and if it's stomped on before it could split, it can't split.
Unknown factors: It's unknown whether these exist anymore or not.

Group 7: Dragon Koopas

Status in Koopa Troop: Royal Koopas/ generals/ guardians

Making up the ruling class of the Koopa Kingdom, this group of koopas have evolved to acquire dragon-like qualities, like being born with a spiked shell, growing large tufts of hair, having sharp teeth, sharp claws, horns, the ability to do great magic with out a wand, having an imtimidating size, being able to have great jumping ability, and having the ability to breath fire or grow wings. Bowser and his children belong in this group. There are also two boom boom species: boom booms and para-boom booms. All dragon koopas have a face that is marked by having the upper portion marked by the colors of their shell.

1. Boom Boom- The least evolved of the dragon koopas, these koopas lack horns, hair, magic abilities, or the abilities to breath fire. Most have brown, or reddish brown shells, so their upper face is also brown or reddish brown. They only serve the purpose of being generals and guardians of fortresses. These take five fireballs, three stomps, or one hammer throw to kill. When these die, they flash for a moment, and explode like a bob-omb, but the explosion is harmless instead of harmful. These are possibly extinct.

Appearence: A koopa with tan skin, a spiked brown, or reddish brown shell and a brown/reddish brown upper face with a tan snout, and has upper fangs sticking out. All boom booms also can't hide in their shell. The only boom boom that's doesn't go by the normal boom boom colors would be the one that once lived in the only fortress in Koophari Desert, in which it had stone-grey skin, a dark blue shell, and a dark blue upper face with a stone-grey snout.
Size: Bigger than a koopa troopa but smaller than a sledge brother.
Abilities: Changing after stomps: After the first stomp, it starts doing a jumping attack. After the second stomp, it goes into a "crazy mode" and starts attacking really fast and running really fast.
Attacks: Swinging its fist up and down and from side to side, along with a spiked shell slide. After the first stomp: Jumping fist swinging usually followed by slide. After second stomp: "Crazy mode" fist-swinging.
Weaknesses: Fireballs, hammers, and three stomps on the head. It's also dim-witted.
Unknown factors: It's unknown from what species of koopa these evolved from.

2. Para-Boom Boom- These are the more evolved version of boom booms, even though the only way they evolved was the magic ability to transform their arms into wings after the first stomp. Para-boom booms also have the ability to do small amount of powerful magic with out a wand, as this was proven by the para-boom boom in Sky Land by reversing the gravity of half of the central lava lake and its podoboo population in its sky fortress. These are the only difference between the two boom boom species. This species might possibly be extinct.

Appearence: Exactly that of the lesser species, except that after the first stomp, the arms are replaced with wings.
Size: Exactly that of a regular boom boom.
Abilities: Exactly that of a regular boom boom, but instead of jumping around after the first stomp, they magically morph their arms into wings.
Attacks: Exactly those of the lesser species, except after the first stomp, it does a diving attack, usually followed by a shell slide.
Weaknesses: Exactly that of the lesser species.
Unknown factors: It's unknown

3. Dragon Koopa- The ruling race of the Koopa Kingdom, and Bowser and his children's species as well. These koopas, like boom booms and para-boom booms, have spiked shells and that face marking that's the color of their shell. Unlike boom booms and para-boom booms, though, dragon-koopas have horns, considerable strenghth, the ability to jump to longer distances and to higher heights, the ability to breath fire, tufts of hair on their heads, sharp teeth and claws, the ability to do a far greater amount of powerful magic, have a imtimidating size, and the ability to hide in their shell. This species can be temporarily in what is more of an "evolved state", where the koopa is more dragon-like, when being powered up by stars, star items, or any other power-increasing device. This was proven in Mario's latest and second latest attempt to rescue Peach, where Bowser became more dragonish (ex: ability to use more powerful magic, such as electric stomps, shadow teleporting, ect. Also, more dragonish qualities are added to physical being, such as being larger, claw attacks being poisonious, and being able to breath larger amounts of fire.) from the power stars of Peach's castle, or from the power of the Star Rod and Kammy Koopa's power-upgrade device combined. I have a feeling that this species of koopa has so highly evolved to the traits of a dragon that if a considerable amount of power, like the power of the Star Spirits, the Star Rod, the Milinuem Star, the power stars of Princess Peach's castle, along with Kammy Koopa's device were to combine and splash the every dragon-koopa with its power, it could evolve the whole entire dragon-koopa race into a new, unstoppable race of koopa-dragons!
Note: I'm going to create another Mariology based on this!

Appearence: This looks like a cross between a koopa, a boom boom, and a dragon. Wears spiked wristbands, shoulderbands, and collar (Royal clothing for koopas!).
Size: Bigger than a giant troopa.
Abilities: Can jump great distances, can breath fire, and can do a large amount of powerful magic (Has to learn it first!).
Attacks: Breathing fire, swiping with claws, biting, and hip-drops. Also can survive a bath in molten lava.
Weaknesses: Can be defeated by hammers and fireballs.
Unknown factors: It's unknown whether there are more dragon-koopas other than Bowser and his children.

Group 8: Baby Bowsers

Status in Koopa Troop:Henchmen/ guardians/ battle allies/ shopkeepers/ fianancial services

These are the clones of Bowser. Created through magic, these annoying koopas try to help Bowser in his quest to take over the Mushroom Kingdom. They also work as shopkeepers and fianancial services.

1. Baby Bowser- First appearing as Bowser's minions on Eternal Star, these miniture-ized versions of Bowser have done many other things besides being the guardians of stolen stars, such as being the keepers of the banks in Bowser Land, being shopkeepers that sell offensive items to help partygoers in their quest to win, and served as battle allies, in which they either switch places with Bowser or transform into him.

Appearence: The " Mini-me" version of Bowser.
Size: As big as a dragon-koopling.
Abilities: Able to switch places with Bowser or transform into him.
Attacks: (Regular) Bowser transform and Bowser switch
(As Bowser) Claw swipe and breathing fire
Weaknesses: Is slightly dim-witted.
Unknown factors: None(so far)

2. Red Baby Bowser- Only appearing as the a shopkeeper in Bowser Land, this koopa will give a partygoer an item, even if the partygoer has no coins or doesn't want it. This ia all I know about this species of koopa.

Appearence: A red version of a Baby Bowser.
Size: Exactly that of a Baby Bowser.
Abilities: Theoreticly the same as that of a Baby Bowser.
Attacks: Theoreticly the same as that of a Baby Bowser.
Weaknesses: Is dim-witted.
Unknown factors: It's unknown weather if this koopa does a Bowser transform, he will turn into a red version of Bowser or not.

Okay, that's it. I listed every known species of koopa so far and pointed out several things that many people don't notice. Unlike other Mariologies, I'll keep updating this everytime Bowser tries to defeat Mario wkth his minions.
