Personality: Toad’s most outstanding personality traits would appear to be his work ethic and bright, cheery nature, but then, that’s what it takes to be the most well-known royal retainer in the Mushroom Kingdom. Toad is never gruff, impatient, or rude. He is also selfless and helpful. In Super Mario: The Legend of the Seven Stars, the unsung mushroom journeyed across the Mushroom Kingdom and Smithy’s Factory in order to carry a veritable store of provisions from local merchants to Mario immediately prior to the plumber’s confrontation with Smithy. Despite a history of occasionally being captured, Toad is not as helpless as the average Mushroom person. He is as fearless and resourceful as the brothers, and possesses incredible strength for someone his size, as the champion veggie-flinger in Super Mario Bros 2, and for those who would argue that was just a dream, bear in mind that he demonstrated similar agility, courage, and strength in the course of protecting forests from the explosive bombs of Wario in ‘Wario’s Woods.’ Finally, Toad has also demonstrated wisdom comparable to King Solomon as he plays the embattled moderator in a dispute between the Kingdom’s most prominent citizens was the Kingdom’s Super Star by proposing a contest of brains, brawn, courage and resourcefulness in Mario Party.
