Modus Operandi: Wario relies primarily on his considerable brute strength to out-muscle his enemies. He has also, in the past, utilized a collection of special hats with varying abilities. Recently, he has also been malleable, using his environment to grant him temporary abilities, a condition which also allowed him to enjoy the side effect of invulnerability. He has also used in the past used mass hypnosis to take over a Mario-themed park and take over Mario’s castle.
Description: Wario is extremely fat and burly, with broad shoulders and especially short, stubby legs. His face is quite broad, with a swollen red nose, large, toothy mouth, cleft chin, bushy black eyebrows over large beady eyes, pointy ears, and receding hair, which he wears spiky. In dress, he sloppily copies Mario’s style, normally a yellow shirt under purple overalls, white gloves, tiny pointy green shoes and a yellow cap with a sloppy ‘W’ on the brim. As a sort of final flourish, his mustache is wiry and twisted, a crude copy of Mario’s own.
What We Know About Wario: “Mean and ugly.” That is how Wario was once bluntly described, and that was for an adventure in which he was the hero. Wario is crude, aggressive, immature, brash, unkempt and lacking in manners. Instead of a general good-will, almost all of his adventures are motivated by the prospect some kind of material gain, save for those rare occasions when he is motivated purely by his own spiteful and destructive nature. Despite this shallowness, however, Wario is not to be passed off as a cretin, as he also been said to possess a diabolical cunning, though this attribute he almost solely devotes to the seeking of gain and in the outwitting of enemies. The ‘enemies’ more often than not include his own nemesis, the treasure hoarding and equally devious female pirate Captain Syrup, and her notorious seafaring gang The Black Sugar Pirates. His most hated enemy, however, is Mario. It has been said that Wario knew Mario in his childhood, and has ever since been jealous of his fame. It would appear, however, that since the acquisition of his own residence and wealth, Wario’s hatred of Mario seems to have mellowed somewhat, though not to a significant degree. Don’t hold your breath for a hug between these two.
*Though this is widely held to be Toad’s most well-known statement, it is unverified whether Toad actually said this, due to the anonymity of the Mushroom Retainers in Super Mario Bros.
